Bed Bug Infestations Can Give A Business A Bad Reputation Part I Of II

New Jersey pest control professionals say that bed bug infestations have become a nightmare for hotels and motels throughout the United States.  Some businesses have implemented good bed bug protocol whereas they have daily or weekly checks for the bloodsucking bugs, some have regular pest control professionals who provide specific services for bed bug eradication and prevention, and some have trained their staff members about important information about bed bugs.  Despite a hotels best effort, bed bugs can still infiltrate the establishment at any time as they are transient creatures that can be brought in with any hotel guest, or transferred from one room to another on the shoes or clothing of housekeeping staff.  The fact is, any hotel room can be bed bug free on one day, and infested on the very next day.

How a hotel or motel reacts to the findings of bed bugs in a guest room can make or break the reputation of the establishment and potentially give a huge black eye to drive future customers away if the situation is not handled well.

First Coast News reported on August 4, 2011, that two women claim that their stay at an Orange Park Motel was ruined when they discovered that strange bedfellows had spent the night with them.  The ladies claim that the room looked clean upon their arrival and nothing seemed to be out of the ordinary.  Exhausted from their day, they quickly climbed into bed expecting a good night’s sleep.  One of the guests awoke at 6:00 a.m. only to discover a bed bug crawling on her.  After pulling back the sheets, she found more bed bugs scurrying around the sheets and pillows.  Her roommate then awoke to find that bed bugs had joined her in bed as well.
