Bed Bug Treatment Sparks Fiery Inferno

New Jersey pest control experts agree that killing bed bugs is no easy task.  There are several different methods that pest control experts can use to eradicate the bloodsuckers.  Because of the various risks associated with killing bed bugs and other types of household pests, it is important to engage the services of a licensed pest control technician.

Even when all precautions have been taken during the treatment process, unexpected and sometimes disastrous situations can arise.  A homeowner in Cincinnati, Ohio got more than she bargained for on Sunday when she hired an exterminator to kill her bed bug infestation.

The pest control professional was in the process of providing heat treatment services when a fire broke out at the home.  Heat treatment has proven to be an effective means of killing bed bugs, nymphs, and bed bug eggs.  Reports are that the exterminator was six hours into the 6 ½ hour bed bug treatment process when a neighbor noticed black smoke billowing out of the back of the residence.  The heat treatment required the use of propane tanks and heaters to raise the temperature of the home to 135 degrees.  One neighbor reports hearing the sound of an explosion from the home.  The exterminator, who states that he has never had a problem using heat treatment before, believes that the inferno is the result of equipment that malfunctioned.

The good news is that there were no injuries reported because heat treatment requires that a home be vacated for the day.
