Do It Yourself Bed Bug Solution Is Not The Answer

Having bed bugs in your home is a stressful situation.  People who are suffering through a bed bug infestation have difficulty sleeping because they are on constant alert waiting for the critters to come and suck their blood.  Spreading like wildfire from coast to coast, bed bugs are taking over hotels, homes, hospitals, theaters, retail stores, homeless shelters, and many other places that people frequent.

New Jersey pest control professionals report that many people are unaware of how difficult it is to eradicate bed bugs from their home.  At first sight of the bugs, they often turn to some of the do-it-yourself remedies that are popping up in home improvement stores, grocery stores, and discount stores.  Bed bugs are not like other types of pests that invade your home.  These tenacious bloodsuckers require a specific course of treatment, usually multiple treatments, in order to obtain full eradication.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is warning consumers about using do-it-yourself bed bug products.  The current assessment is that bed bugs do not transmit disease and are a nuisance pest.  The CDC has issued a nationwide warning because consumers are making themselves sick by improperly using over-the-counter insecticides.  The desperate efforts to kill the bed bugs has resulted in people mixing fumigators, using more chemicals than the manufacturer recommends, and using the wrong types of pesticides in an effort to try to kill the bloodsuckers.

Over-the-counter pesticides are deemed “safe” if they are used according to the manufactures instructions.  Not following those instructions makes the chemicals toxic to humans and pets.  It is very likely that when you place two or more chemicals together, you will receive a reaction…and not a positive one.  People are becoming sick with headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, difficulty breathing, and even death has occurred from improper bed bug pesticide use.  For people who misuse pesticides, the solution can be worse than the initial problem.

Bed bugs are difficult to kill.  Do-it-yourself products have proven to be ineffective on bed bug eradication.  Improper pesticide application is dangerous.  Using a New Jersey pest control professional at the first sign of bed bugs is the best alternative!  Allison Pest Control provides excellent NJ bed bug eradication services to Monmouth, Ocean, and Middlesex Counties.
