Bed Bug Attack Sparks Third Lawsuit Against The Waldorf Astoria

New York City’s Park Avenue luxury hotel, the Waldorf Astoria, has returned to the front pages of the news once again…and not for good reasons.  They are being accused of having bed bugs nibbling on a hotel guest once again.  They have now been slammed with their third bed bug related lawsuit in just the past few months.

A Maryland doctor, turned stay at home Mom, claims that she was attacked by the little vampires while visiting the Waldorf Astoria in August of 2007.  She claims that she awoke to the creepy crawlers sucking her blood and has suffered a tremendous amount of physical and emotional damage because of the encounter.  She is suing the hotel for $10 million for her troubles.

Claims of having a bed bug infestation can be disparaging to the reputation of any hotel or business for certain.  When a hotel refuses to accept responsibility for fear of having a tarnished reputation, the problem only becomes worse.  Many retail stores, especially in New York City, have suffered from bed bug infestations in recent months.  Despite the “ick factor” that  bed bugs create for customers, these retail stores have immediately jumped into action to rectify the situation by calling in pest control experts to eradicate their bed bug infestations.

As reports of bed bugs gain media attention, the public is becoming more aware of what they should be looking for in order to avoid bringing bed bugs home with them.  As consumers become more educated about the signs of bed bug and the bugs themselves, hotels need to be prepared for the onslaught of folks finding the critters within their establishment.

It is then up to each hotel to provide pest control services that have experience in bed bug removal practices.  Industry experts agree that bed bugs are here to stay…at least for the time being. Allison Pest Control provides excellent New Jersey pest control services to Monmouth, Ocean and Middlesex counties.  Look to us for expert NJ bed bug eradication services for your home, office, or hotel establishment.
