The warmer months of the year mean that certain types of pests are around more. Pest control companies in New Jersey deal with fruit flies, ants, bees and several other insect pests all summer long. Thanks to new research findings, improved forms of pest control could be on the way.

Wolbachia Bacteria

Wolbachia bacteria is known for making male bugs sterile, which helps keep pest populations under control to some extent. However, researchers haven’t fully understood how this happens until recently.

New research has shown that genetics might play a role in this effect. These findings could mean that researchers can use it for developing ways to sterilize pest populations in order to keep them under control. In fact, sterile male mosquitoes have been released in five different countries to keep a disease called Dengue under control.

Effective Pest Control

While this research should lead to some improved methods of pest control, it’s not fully underway just yet. In the meantime, homeowners in Monmouth County should get help from professional pest control experts for mosquitoes, fruit flies and just about any other pests that they’re dealing with.
