NJ Pest Control Professionals Report That Foraging Ants Are Ready To Invade

New Jersey pest control professionals report that recent surveys of homeowners in New Jersey and across the United States consider ants to be the number one nuisance pest in homes and businesses.  It’s no wonder that ants top the list as the most annoying pest as they commonly invade with a vengeance during the spring and summertime months.  Once they come indoors, these pests can be very difficult to eradicate.

Because of their tiny stature, ants can enter a structure through the tiniest crack, crevice, or hole.  They initially send in a few “scout” ants to forage to determine if there is a good food source.  Once the scouts return to the nest with their prize food, you can expect to see the massive onset of marching ants.  NJ pest control experts report that ants leave a pheromone trail in their wake so they know exactly where to return to obtain more food.

Ants are social insects that will eat most any substance while they forage.  In addition to other insects, when they invade a home, ants are on the hunt for crumbs of food, uncleaned spills, sugary sweets, uncovered foods, soda, coffee, and meat products.

Upon the first sighting of the ants, many New Jersey residents resort to using aerosol sprays and other hardware store remedies to try to control ant populations.  Unfortunately, these poisons are often dangerous to children and pets and only kill the ants that are directly contacted, not the colony of ants that exist outside the home, within the wall voids, or under the structure.  Treating ants yourself will only provide temporary relief from the infestation as the existing colony already knows where to return to obtain more goodies.  It is not uncommon for homeowners to experience continued ant encounters after engaging in home remedies.

A licensed New Jersey pest control professional will be able to identify the type of ant that has invaded your home and provide a viable treatment method to eradicate the pests once and for all.
