Fleas…A Year-Round Menace

Guess what bug I am?

I can jump up to 3 feet.  I do not fly.  I am happy living indoors or outdoors.  Once I am present, I multiply very quickly.  I am considered to be a parasite.  I can lie dormant in all life stages.  I am considered to be the worst disease carrier in the entire world.  I live in all types of environments, even at the North Pole, but only with a warm blooded host.  I am not a picky eater as I survive on the blood of many types of warm blooded animals.

Any clue what I am?

I am a FLEA!

Fleas are one of the hardest pests to eradicate report Monmouth County, NJ pest control professionals.  Fleas are not only found in homes with pets.  In fact, it is estimated that about fifty percent of the homes that are treated for flea infestations do not have any indoor or outdoor pets.  Fleas feast upon all types of hosts.  Birds, raccoons, squirrels, mice, cats, dogs…and yes, humans as well.

Fleas can hitch a ride indoors via a pet or a human that is entering the home.  These blood feeders are able to survive an extensive amount of time without a blood meal which makes getting rid of the parasites even more difficult.  It is not uncommon for a flea to lie in wait for up to two years for the opportunity to feed upon a host.

Monmouth County, NJ pest control experts are often called when flea infestations have reached unbearable heights.  It is not uncommon for more than one treatment application to be necessary in order to fully eradicate these pesky bugs.  Call Allison Pest Control for all of your pest control needs.
