Fast forward to the spring of 2011. These New Jersey stink bugs have come to life once again and are going crazy. When inside our homes, they zip around at incredible speeds. Catching them is no longer an easy task. Once they finally do land and you try to grab them, it’s extremely likely that they will fight back with a vengeance by spewing their pungent scent. They are attracted to the warmth of lights and can often be found landing on them, much to their demise. You’ll know when they do, because a baking stink bug will spray its disgusting odor, fouling the air for a good deal of time.
New Jersey pest control experts agree that NJ stink bug infestations will likely be worse this year than last year. To date, these stinky pests have now been found in 33 states and are as far west as Washington state and California. As they summer travel season arrives, the big fear is that stink bugs will hitch a ride throughout the entire United States in unsuspecting vehicles. The lifespan of a stink bug is about a year and a female can lay as many as 270 eggs during her lifetime.
