Termites Cause Serious Damage In NJ

The eastern subterranean termite can be a serious pest in New Jersey as well as all other parts of the United States report Monmouth County, NJ pest control professionals.  Termites have a voracious appetite and feed mostly upon wood sources.  Absent of wood, termites will also eat insulation, paper, and books.  Termites have even been known to cause damage to pool filtration system and pool liners as well.  Termites cause billions of dollars to damage each year, none of which is covered by a home or businesses insurance policy.

Sometimes termites leave tell-tale signs of their existence and sometimes they work in complete silence.  Worker termites create mud tubes that are created out of saliva and mud.  These tubes are used as a means of traveling from the nesting spot to their feeding spot.  The presence of any mud tubes is a clear indication of a termite infestation.  Mud tubes should not be destroyed or bothered.  If termites realize that they have been detected, the entire colony will be signaled and they will high-tale it out of that area and create a new nest nearby.  Often times, the existing nest will split when the termites disperse causing a new nesting spot as well as satellite colonies.  Once there are satellite colonies, the eastern subterranean termite becomes even more difficult to control.
