Mice sometimes build nests in a warm location, such as behind stoves and refrigerators. They also prefer having their nests close to food sources, making your pantry or kitchen cupboards a perfect place for them. Keep in mind, though, that mice can build nests in other areas of your home, including the attic, inside walls and in crawlspaces. These areas provide them with a safe place to stay hidden during daytime.
What to Look For
Mice make their nests from fiber-filled materials, including food packaging, cloth, pieces of string and shredded pieces of paper. A mouse nest resembles a ball made from these types of materials and typically has droppings near it.
