Coming Soon To A Home Near You…The Brown Marmorated Stink Bug

For years American’s have long enjoyed the spoils of goods that been imported from China and other parts of Asia.  One accidental import however has caused a huge uproar in 38 states and has left a foul stench flowing in its pathway.

The brown marmorated stink bug, which snuck onto American soil via shipping containers, is having a blast living in America.  Here the stink bugs can live a mostly carefree life as there are not many insects in the United States that can stomach the smell or taste of these strange invaders.  In Asia, the stink bug population is controlled by parasitic wasps which lay their eggs in the eggs of the stink bugs.  As they develop, the wasps devour the undeveloped stink bugs before they become a problem.  There are also other creatures that find them to be a tasty treat.

At the end of last summer, the brown marmorated stink bug was reported to be eating fruits and vegetables and ruining entire crops in 33 states.  As of July of 2012, these pests are now in 38 states continuing their path of destruction.  According to newjerseynewsroom.com on July 5, 2012, the House has recently passed the 2012 Farm Bill which will allot $831,000 for researching the stink bug and finding ways to kill it.  These prehistoric looking pests are so difficult to kill it will likely take more than $831K to figure out how to eradicate these bugs fully.

Until our government comes up with a viable solution to these pests, you can rely on a pest control professional in Ocean County, NJ.  Call Allison Pest Control when the stink bugs return to your home looking for a place to spend the winter months.
