When used correctly, heat treatment has been effective in bed bug eradication.\u00a0 Some NJ pest control experts<\/a> are a bit on edge about using heat treatment systems because of the recent fire that has been reported in Edmonton, Canada.\u00a0 According to reports from News Canada on July 18, 2011, a massive fire erupted at an apartment complex unit that was undergoing bed bug treatment.\u00a0 Fire investigators have discovered that a propane fuelled heater sparked the blaze which displaced about 50 residents from their home.\u00a0 Sadly, a grandmother, mother, and two children were seriously injured in the fire. Another recent home fire has also been attributed to bed bug infestation treatment.\u00a0 WLWT.com reported on May 15, 2011 that a pest control operator is responsible for the fire that erupted at a Cincinnati, Ohio duplex.\u00a0 Just like in the Edmonton, Canada blaze, this pest control operator also used propane tanks to heat the duplex to temperatures of about 135 degrees, which will kill the bed bugs in all stages of their life, their eggs, and any other critter that happens to be hiding within the house.\u00a0 According to reports, the fire erupted 30 minutes prior to the completion of the job.
