Bedbugs have kept NJ pest control experts very busy in recent years. As these bloodsucking pests become more common, officials could end up taking steps to reduce infestations by passing emergency rules. That\u2019s what happened recently in Maine after two boarding houses were found to have bedbugs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Emergency Bedbug Rules<\/strong><\/p>\n

The City Council in Bangor, Maine put an emergency bedbug ordinance<\/a> in place in early May to deal with recent infestations. Bedbugs were detected in two boarding houses within the city limits, and the city wants to make sure these infestations are handled promptly. Otherwise, bedbugs can spread to other locations and lead to additional infestations. Of note, tenants are not held responsible for ensuring that bedbug problems are taken care of.<\/p>\n

While the ordinance is in place for 60 days, landlords are required to have bedbug infestations handled by a pest control company. Although this ordinance is only in effect for a couple of months, it could help prevent bedbugs from becoming a bigger problem in the city.<\/p>\n

No similar rules have been put in place yet in NJ, but residents should note that it\u2019s important to have NJ pest control <\/a>experts handle these pests as soon as possible.<\/p>\n
