It is estimated that about only 50% of people that are bitten by bed bugs suffer the allergic reaction to their bites.\u00a0 This combined with the fact that these nasty vampire bugs are excellent hitchhikers are some of the reasons that bed bugs have been able to spread and multiply right under our noses.\u00a0 Because you can encounter bed bugs at any time, it is wise to always be on the look-out for any possible signs of their existence.<\/p>\n

Here are some things to look for\u2026<\/p>\n

Evidence of bed bugs:\u00a0 Look for bed bug fecal matter and blood stains on your mattresses.\u00a0 Fecal matter looks like black specks, somewhat like pepper, but can be in different shapes or sizes.\u00a0 Blood stains that bed bugs leave behind can often be found on sheets as the bugs are sometimes squished by humans after they have received their blood meal.\u00a0 Additionally, you should look for actual bed bugs or their discarded skins.\u00a0 Because bed bugs like to hide, on a mattress, they are most likely found around the piping and stitching area.\u00a0 It should be noted that bed bugs are not only found in beds so you should look for them within a 20 foot radius of the bed and remember; nothing is off-limits to a bed bug!<\/p>\n

Bite marks:\u00a0 Some people report that bed bugs bite in a line, which is called\u2026breakfast, lunch and dinner.\u00a0 Others report clusters of bite marks.\u00a0 Bed bug bites can appear within hours or up to days after being bitten.\u00a0 The bites range in severity depending on the person as well.\u00a0 Bed bug bites resemble other types of pest bite marks so the presence of strange bite marks does not mean you have bed bugs.\u00a0 Proper confirmation of a New Jersey bed bug infestation should be made by a pest control specialist<\/a>.
