Camel back crickets belong to the family of crickets and the sub-family of wingless long-horned grasshoppers, so technically, they are not true crickets like the house cricket or field cricket is.<\/p>\n

Camel back crickets are the color of a camel and have a humped back appearance of a camel.\u00a0 Their long spindly legs are extremely delicate and they are without wings.\u00a0 These interesting crickets won\u2019t keep you awake all night with their songbird ways like the field and house crickets will.\u00a0 They feed off of all types of organic material.<\/p>\n

Camel back crickets do not bite, sting, or stink, so they are not so bad to have around your home in that regards.\u00a0 They do however multiply very quickly and grow quite large in size.\u00a0 Oddly enough, many people who encounter these strange crickets report that they actually jump toward humans instead of away from them, which is why they are often so feared.\u00a0 Their ability to jump so well is likely what threatens other pests and animals from eating these critters.<\/p>\n
