Naysayers cannot deny it any longer\u2026bed bugs<\/a> are back, and they are biting with a vengeance, from the east coast to the west coast and all points in between.\u00a0 The good news is that scientists at Ohio State University have recently discovered some important information about bed bugs that will hopefully help lead others in creating the correct chemical compounds to eradicate the little vampires.\u00a0 The information that they have discovered in their bed bug genetic study will also help New Jersey pest control experts<\/a>, and those around the United States, gain a better understanding as to why these insects are so difficult to eliminate.<\/p>\n

The study was conducted on live bed bugs that were collected from an apartment building in Columbus, Ohio during 2009 and 2010 that were exposed to repeated applications of pesticides, and bed bugs which have been in a laboratory since 1973, which were not exposed to any pesticides.<\/p>\n

This genetic study showed that bed bugs<\/a> have evolved to a sort of super bug.\u00a0 The genetic study found that bed bugs now have thicker exoskeletons than those of years past, and that they are able to turn toxic chemicals into water soluble compounds that can be safely excreted.\u00a0 Additionally, it has been found that bed bugs that have been repeatedly treated with pesticides, and have survived chemical treatments, were able to pass on the survival traits to their offspring and to future generations as well.<\/p>\n

In another study in the United States, Europe, and Africa, it has been found that all current bed bugs are now 1000 times more resistant to pesticides when you compare them to bed bugs from ten years ago.<\/p>\n

Scientists now think that simple spraying of pesticides may not be enough, now or in the future, to get rid of bed bug infestations.\u00a0 Bed bugs are not a do-it-yourself type of pest.\u00a0 It\u2019s important for anyone who has a NJ bed bug infestation<\/a> in their home or business to hire a New Jersey pest control expert<\/a> to eradicate bed bugs effectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
