The Box Elder Bug<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

If your landscaping includes boxelder, maple, or ash trees, chances are, you’ll have boxelder bugs residing in your yard. The dark brown or black bugs with red colored wings and stomach feed on the seeds of these types of trees.<\/p>\n

Boxelders are considered more of a nuisance than a problem. They don’t damage the trees but they do gather in large groups especially while catching some rays of sunshine.<\/p>\n

You may not be aware of boxelders<\/a> in your yard especially during the warm months when they spend the majority of their time in the trees where they lay their eggs and have a continuous source of food.<\/p>\n

When the cool winter weather approaches, boxelders make a beeline in search of warmer accommodations. One of the best places is in the attic and behind walls in your home. The bugs snuggle down during this time and only emerge once the warm weather of spring makes an appearance.<\/p>\n
