\"\"<\/a>Having a New Jersey bed bug infestation<\/a> or one anywhere in the United States is not easy to deal with.\u00a0 Having bed bugs are be physically, financially, and emotionally exhausting.\u00a0 Many people report being shunned by family and friends who find out that they have bed bugs.\u00a0 Some people have even reported that they have been turned down for health care services.\u00a0 Here\u2019s a weird bed bug story that just recently happened to some patients at a hospital\u2026<\/p>\n

Caregivers at a hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin suspected on two different occasions that patients who came into the emergency room had bed bug bite marks on their body.\u00a0 Pursuant to their bed bug protocol, a hospital spokesperson said “We put them in a room by themselves, and that room is then sealed so there’s no chance of whatever is contaminating the patient to contaminate the people around.”\u00a0 Additionally, the hospital reports that \u201cour caregivers are specially clothed when they go in to treat that patient.”<\/p>\n

On both occasions, the hospital called pest control<\/a> which used heat\u00a0reatment to kill of the suspected bed bugs that the patients brought with them to the emergency room.\u00a0 It should be noted that no bed bugs were ever found in either of the rooms that the patients were in or their belongings.<\/p>\n

Bed bug<\/a> bites resemble those of other types of annoying pests such as mosquito bites or flea bites.\u00a0 Bed bug bites can also resemble other types of skin rashes and irritations. Although it is fantastic to think that a hospital is being proactive in their search of bed bugs so that they are not spread throughout the hospital and to other patients, in these particular cases, perhaps they have gone a bit too far.\u00a0 To isolate patients in a sealed room and to wear \u201cspecial\u201d clothing to provide patient care because they think they might have bed bugs is a bit over the top.<\/p>\n

Although bed bugs<\/a> are excellent hitchhikers and will travel in\/on a multitude of belongings, they are not like lice that are attached to a person.\u00a0 You can\u2019t diagnose a person as having bed bugs solely based on the presence of suspected bed bug bite marks.<\/p>\n
