\"\"<\/a>The State of Ohio has been blasted with bed bug infestations<\/a> from end to end.\u00a0These bloodsuckers keep popping up in schools, theaters, homes, hotels, restaurants, and many other places that people frequent.\u00a0 It is not surprising though as Ohio has several major cities that are listed as the Top Most Infested Bed Bug Cities in the United States according to Terminix and Orkin pest control companies.<\/p>\n

My High School Journalism reported on November 2, 2012<\/a> that bed bugs have been found in yet another Ohio school.\u00a0 Ross High School in Hamilton, Ohio is the latest to have the bloodsuckers roaming the halls with the high school kids.\u00a0 News of bed bugs creeping around did not go over well among students or parents.\u00a0 As usually happens, bed bug<\/a> panic began to set in according to reports.<\/p>\n

The principal of the school approved the custodial staff to search lockers and their contents for bed bugs.\u00a0 I wonder if that job is in that in their contract.\u00a0 Upon finding one bloodsucker on the hallway floor, the principal approved the application of pesticides in the hallway in question and the lockers in the vicinity as a \u201cprecautionary measure.\u201d\u00a0 Unfortunately many of the students personal items were damaged in the process as well, which the school has agreed to replace.<\/p>\n

After the pesticide treatment, a bed bug sniffing dog was called to the school to check for bed bugs.\u00a0 Bed bug sniffing dogs have an amazing nose for detecting bed bug infestations and bed bug eggs.\u00a0 They cannot work efficiently however once pesticides have already been applied which is why sniffer dogs should be called in PRIOR to any eradication treatment.<\/p>\n

The school is claiming that the bed bug sniffing dog has giving them the all clear.\u00a0 In actuality it will take some time for the pesticides that were used to not be detected by the amazing scent receptors of a bed bug sniffing dog.\u00a0 So one must ask\u2026are the bed bugs really gone from the school or will we be hearing of a \u201cnew infestation\u201d in the coming weeks?\u00a0 Only time will tell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
