Philadelphia slipped into the number one slot for the most bed bug complaints for 2012 as has been reported by Terminix this past June<\/a>, but it ap\"\"<\/a>pears that the State of Ohio is still a hotbed of bed bug activity no matter where you travel to.\u00a0 In Ohio, Cincinnati is in the number 2 spot, Columbus is in the number 7 spot, and Cleveland is in the number 15 spot.\u00a0 In contrast, Orkin reported in March of 2012<\/a> that Cincinnati is in the number 1 spot, Columbus is in the number 6 spot, Cleveland\/Akron\/Canton are in the number 13 spot, and Dayton, Ohio is in the number 15 spot for the most bed bug infested cities.\u00a0 Clearly, Ohio is having a problem with bed bugs!<\/p>\n

Nbc4i.com reported on September 26, 2012<\/a> that a woman who stayed at the Columbus Inn & Suites in North Columbus awoke to bed bugs crawling all over her sheets and comforter.\u00a0 She claims that her body was riddled with bed bug bites.\u00a0 The bugs even bit her eye, causing it to swell shut.\u00a0 A representative from the Central Ohio Bed Bug Task Force says that there is a loophole in the regulations in Ohio that allows hotels and motels to self-treat for bed bug infestations.\u00a0 Past experiences and studies have shown that many pesticides are ineffective against the pests and people can become ill if pesticides are used incorrectly.\u00a0 The only way to properly eradicate bed bugs is to use a licensed pest control expert.<\/p>\n

It is going to be hard for Ohio to lower their number of bed bug infestations if they do not enact new laws to gain control over hotels and motels treating bed bugs on their own.<\/p>\n

Bed bugs in multi-unit establishments are extremely difficult to eradicate.\u00a0 It takes the knowledge and experience of a licensed pest control expert to treat bed bug infestations, which is why many states have regulations in place that require landlords, property owners, and hotel\/motels to pay for a pest control professional to eradicate the little vampires.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
