{"id":1025,"date":"2011-12-02T11:03:04","date_gmt":"2011-12-02T16:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/?p=1025"},"modified":"2011-12-02T11:03:04","modified_gmt":"2011-12-02T16:03:04","slug":"stink-bugs%e2%80%a6what%e2%80%99s-our-government-doing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/new.allisonpest.com\/blog\/2011\/12\/02\/stink-bugs%e2%80%a6what%e2%80%99s-our-government-doing\/","title":{"rendered":"Stink Bugs\u2026What\u2019s Our Government Doing?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Allison-Stink-Bug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-397\" title=\"Allison-Stink Bug\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/Allison-Stink-Bug.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/insect-pest-control\/problem-insects.php\">brown marmorated stink bug<\/a> has enjoyed their summer feasting and has now set their sights on finding a warm spot to spend the winter months.\u00a0 Despite their prehistoric shield shaped armor, these stinky pests must come in from the cold or suffer from winter\u2019s wrath and freeze to death.\u00a0 Their ideal place to overwinter is inside of your home where it\u2019s warm and toasty.\u00a0 Sunny days will bring them out of their hiding spots to bask on window sills and walls as they hope that springtime is nearing.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/insect-pest-control\/problem-insects.php\">stink bugs<\/a> that have made their way indoors are often easy to capture and dispose of, but the ones you don\u2019t see are the real problem.<\/p>\n<p>If you live in a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/insect-pest-control\/problem-insects.php\">stink bug<\/a> area of the United States, you can rest assured that these pests have made their way into your garages, attics, sheds, and without a doubt, they are lined up like little soldiers ready for war underneath the insulation of your siding.\u00a0 I know this from personal experience.<\/p>\n<p>Researchers at the US Department of Agriculture Beneficial Insects Introduction Research Unit are conducting studies to find the best ways to combat these creatures before they become more of an agricultural nightmare than they already are.\u00a0 In a controlled study, researchers are watching to see how Trissolcus wasps, which are smaller than a gnat and a fruit fly, prey upon the brown marmorated stink bug eggs.<\/p>\n<p>These parasitic wasps are native to Japan, Korea, and China.
