{"id":1017,"date":"2011-11-28T12:48:35","date_gmt":"2011-11-28T17:48:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2011-11-28T12:48:35","modified_gmt":"2011-11-28T17:48:35","slug":"stink-bugs-are-an-overwintering-pest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/new.allisonpest.com\/blog\/2011\/11\/28\/stink-bugs-are-an-overwintering-pest\/","title":{"rendered":"Stink Bugs Are An Overwintering Pest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Allison-Stink-Bug.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-583\" title=\"Allison Stink Bug\" src=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/Allison-Stink-Bug.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"131\" \/><\/a>As the chilly weather settles in, the calls requesting help with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/insect-pest-control\/problem-insects.php\">brown marmorated stink bug<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/about-us\/index.php\">New Jersey pest control professionals<\/a> slow down.\u00a0 Many pests die off due to the cold temperatures and some disappear as they hunker down for the cold winter months ahead.\u00a0 Although it might seem like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.allisonpest.com\/insect-pest-control\/problem-insects.php\">brown marmorated stink bug<\/a> has gone away, at least for the time being, many New Jersey residents who have made a trip to their attic this weekend have likely learned that the stinks bugs are alive and well!<\/p>\n<p>My neighbor ventured up to her attic to retrieve her holiday decorations this weekend.\u00a0 It did not take long for her to realize that she was not alone.\u00a0 As she began to remove the boxes that contained her decorations, the all too familiar unpleasant stench was unleashed as many stink bugs were clearly not happy that their winter hang-out was being disturbed.\u00a0 According to my neighbor, stink bugs began to emerge from every angle, crawling on her, flying at her, spraying the air making her eyes water and causing difficulty breathing.\u00a0 She called for a plastic bag and some tissues to begin to capture them.\u00a0 She stopped counting after she reached 100 captured stink bugs.\u00a0 The stinky pests were on the exterior of the Christmas boxes, under the boxes, and between the boxes.\u00a0 Once she brought everything down from the attic she began to unpack her treasured decorations, much to her dismay, the stink bugs had made their way inside each of the boxes as well.<\/p>\n<p>Stink bugs are known to feed on over 52 different types of plants in the United States.\u00a0 They have an appetite for shrubs, weeds, vines, cultivated crops, and native and ornamental trees.\u00a0 Both nymphs and adult stink bugs pierce plants to suck the sap from buds, blossoms, seeds, pods, and fruit.\u00a0 The agricultural damage caused by stink bugs to crops within the United States thus far has been in the millions.<\/p>\n<p>My neighbor claimed today that she regretted not seeking the help of a pest control expert when the stink bugs were actively crawling on the exterior of her home before they found their way indoors to overwinter.\u00a0 Insecticides that are administered by a licensed New Jersey pest control technician are the most reliable method of controlling stink bug populations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As the chilly weather settles in, the calls requesting help with the brown marmorated stink bug to New Jersey pest control professionals slow down.\u00a0 Many pests die off due to the cold temperatures and some disappear as they hunker down for the cold winter months ahead.\u00a0 Although it might seem like the brown marmorated stink [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[7,11,18,19,13,17,8,14,15],"tags":[56,54,58,55,32],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v23.5 -
