NJ Mice Squeeze Into Your Home Through Impossibly Small Holes

They Will Find A Way In!
They Will Find A Way In!

Mice have been pests for as long as humans have lived in buildings. They will foul food supplies, leave feces around on counters, in cabinets and on the floor, and they can destroy such things as wiring in the walls with their constant gnawing. Try as we might, it may seem almost impossible to keep them out, because mice can get in through nearly impossibly sized holes.

A Dime

The limitation any mouse has, when trying to squeeze through a hole, is their skull size. If they can get their head through, they can get the rest of their body through. That means, juvenile mice, with smaller heads, can squeeze through holes as small as a dime.

What to do

If you have a mouse problem, the chances are that they came inside through a hole, gap or a crack. These areas can generally be found around window frames, where pipes enter your home, door jambs or thresholds that are not tight, or where the foundation meets the house structure.

You can fill foundation gaps with mortar or mortar repair caulk, polyurethane foam will fill in gaps around window frames and pipes, and you can replace door jambs and thresholds that no longer seal.
