Brown Recluse Spider Habitat
The brown recluse spider, true to its name, is quite shy. They like to hide out in dark, secluded places. You might find one when you’re cleaning out the area under your porch, or you might even find one deep in the back of your closet. Either way, the experience can be a scary one.
Identifying a Brown Recluse Spider
The brown recluse spider is about a centimeter long, and half a centimeter wide. They have violin-shaped markings, and their bodies are brown. However, each spider can look a little different, depending on its age. They also have six eyes, as opposed to eight, like other types of spiders.
Spider Bites
Fortunately, brown recluse spiders generally only bite humans when they are disturbed. However, because they are so shy, they tend to stay out of sight, so it’s easy to get bitten if you come across one while you’re cleaning out a dark area, such as a cabinet or a closet.
